Retirement reception set for Gary Svanda

Gary Svanda

Gary Svanda, director of campus security, is retiring after 47 years at the med center. A retirement tea to honor Svanda will be held from 2:30-4:30 Dec. 17 in the Sorrell Center Commons on the second floor.

“Gary is one of the most dedicated people I have ever known,” said Ken Hansen, associate vice chancellor of facilities for UNMC and vice president of facilities for Nebraska Medicine.

“He has served the UNMC and Nebraska Medicine Campus for more than 40 years. In my time with Gary over the past several years, I’ve seen Gary work 24/7 to ensure the safety for all who work or visit the campus. I wish him the very best.”
