The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), UNMC and Omaha communities are invited to attend one of two UNO Chancellor Priority Candidate Forums with Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., Monday at the Thompson Alumni Center’s Bootstrapper Hall on the UNO campus.
The first forum will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the second will begin at 9:45 a.m.; both will follow the same format but are designed to allow stakeholders to attend the forum that best fits their schedule. The medical center community also is invited to attend Dr. Gold’s monthly UNMC forum from 2 to 3 p.m. that afternoon on the UNMC campus.
Last week, University of Nebraska President Hank Bounds, Ph.D., named Dr. Gold as the priority candidate for the position of UNO chancellor following an 18-month period of growth and momentum for UNO under his interim leadership. If approved by the Board of Regents, Dr. Gold would serve as chancellor until June 30, 2022, at which time NU would initiate a national search for a successor.
During the UNO forum, which is part of the 30-day public vetting period required by state law for priority candidates, President Bounds will discuss the process and Dr. Gold will share his vision for the campus.

On Monday afternoon, Dr. Gold will present his monthly UNMC forum from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Sorrell Center, Room 1005. He will answer questions related to the priority candidate announcement, as well as discuss topics ranging from UNMC’s strategic planning process to ongoing searches for an assistant vice chancellor for inclusion and a new director of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.
