  • Title and department at UNMC/Title at Nebraska Medicine:
Structural interventional cardiologist, assistant professor of medicine and associate program director for cardiology fellowship, UNMC Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology

Research/professional interests:

  • I am interested in high-risk coronary interventions, mechanical circulatory support devices used in shock, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and mitra clip procedures.
  • I am very active with the American College of Cardiology and am the immediate past chair of the fellows in training section.
  • My focus is education and I am the associate program director for the cardiology fellowship at UNMC. I really enjoy working with and teaching house staff. It not only motivates me to keep myself current but also gives me the opportunity to learn from the brightest minds in medicine.

How I fell in love with interventional cardiology:
The ability to relieve symptoms and/or save a life by opening a closed artery during an acute MI (heart attack) as well as the ability to work with these patients post MI to prevent future events by providing appropriate medical therapy and promoting healthy lifestyles attracted me to interventional cardiology. I strongly believe that the field of interventional cardiology includes not only interventions but also prevention!
