The UNMC Office of Graduate Medical Education (GME) is hosting its first Graduate Medical Education Research Symposium on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. in the Sorrell Center’s Truhlsen Events Center.
“This is a unique opportunity to showcase the incredible research that residents and fellows are conducting right here at UNMC,” said Chandra Are, M.B.B.S., associate dean, graduate medical education. “In fact, on the national landscape, UNMC may be one of the few universities to host such an event, which includes all graduate medical education training programs.”
The symposium will provide the opportunity for house officers to present their research in all avenues ranging from clinical outcomes, basic science, education, business, health policy and humanities.
Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., who recently became chair of the board of directors of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), will open the event.
The meeting has attracted more than 70 abstracts that will be presented both in oral and poster formats.
The entire UNMC/Nebraska Medicine community is welcome to attend. Everyone is encouraged to attend, Dr. Are said, not only to support the GME community, but to learn about the exciting research being undertaken by house officers on the UNMC campus.
Food and drink will be provided, and no RSVP is required. Awards will be given to residents/fellows for the best poster and oral presentations.
