Drs. Gold, Sitorius to appear on RFD-TV Monday

Mike Sitorius, M.D.

UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., and UNMC Family Medicine Chairman Mike Sitorius, M.D., will appear on Monday’s live broadcast of RFD-TV’s “Rural America Live” to discuss the future of rural health care.

The Nashville broadcast begins at 7 p.m. CDT and will welcome callers’ questions at 877-731-6733.

The hourlong show will focus on what rural health care might look like in 2030, especially regarding access to primary care in rural areas. Will there be enough primary care providers? How difficult will it be for rural residents to access the care they need? Why do we expect so much change by 2030? The discussion will touch on these issues:

  • Changing demographics
  • Advances in technology
  • Rising health care costs and changes in financing
  • Increasing importance of interdisciplinary team-based care
  • Potential changes to critical-access
  • Less one-to-one interaction between providers and patients.

“Rural America Live” — formerly titled “RFD-TV Live” — is the longest-running show produced by RFD-TV. Find RFD-TV on local television providers. View the July 23 show, which featured Dr. Gold and Elizabeth Merwin, Ph.D., past president of the Rural Nurse Organization, on the UNMC YouTube channel.
