The PODS Scholarship is supported by the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy Endowment Fund.
Dr. Hoffman will use the award funds to enhance her doctoral training by attending scientific conferences and brain imaging workshops. In addition, the award funds will be used to support her research on the motor actions and cognitive processing of adults with cerebral palsy.
Dario Dieguez, Ph.D., a spokesperson for the foundation, said “the pool of applicants for this opportunity was extremely competitive and Dr. Hoffman’s application was deemed among those having the most outstanding potential.”
“This award is a testament of Dr. Hoffman’s hard work over the first few years of her doctoral training and her knack for translational research,” said Max Kurz, Ph.D., associate professor of physical therapy and Dr. Hoffman’s Ph.D. adviser. “She is rapidly emerging as a leader in the field of physical therapy.”
“I am extremely honored and overwhelmed to be receiving such an important award from the Foundation for Physical Therapy,” Dr. Hoffman said. “Additionally, I am earnestly grateful for the recognition and support I have received for my Ph.D. studies at the Munroe-Meyer Institute.”
