Pediatric Research Forum set for Thursday, Friday

The 16th Annual Pediatric Research Forum will be held Thursday and Friday at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in the third floor Glow Auditorium.

The keynote speaker on Thursday will be Shelby Kutty, M.D., Ph.D., professor and vice chair of faculty development for pediatrics and assistant dean of research and development in the UNMC College of Medicine.

A pediatric cardiologist, Dr. Kutty’s presentation is titled, “To Infinity and Beyond in Pediatric Cardiac Imaging: From Speckles to Strain to Theranostics.” It will run from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. It will be followed by a poster session with more than 80 posters from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. with refreshments and light hors d’oeuvres.

On Friday, the forum will begin with a poster session and light breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. From 8 to 8:30 a.m., Jenna Allison, M.D., a third-year resident in pediatrics, will deliver a presentation, “From Resident to Fellow: Navigating the Academic World.”

Following Dr. Allison’s speech, the forum will conclude with the presentation of Outstanding Teaching Awards in pediatrics.

Children’s Hospital & Medical Center is accredited by the Nebraska Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The research forum has been designated for a maximum of one (1.0) AMA PRA Category I Credit on Thursday and one-half (0.5) credit for Friday. Physicians should claim the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The Pediatric Research Forum is jointly supported by the UNMC Department of Pediatrics and Children’s Hospital & Medical Center. Abstract submissions are closed. Anyone can attend. There is no charge or official registration.
