Registration open for Bone Marrow Failure Disorders Symposium
The “Bone Marrow Failure Disorders Symposium: Emphasis on Special Patient Populations and Novel Approaches” will be held on May 15. Registration is now open for the symposium, which involves a review of the frequent challenges encountered when managing acquired and congenital causes of bone marrow failure. There will be an emphasis on how the multidisciplinary team assists with overcoming these challenges amongst complex patients as well as transplant recipients. Current state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic approaches also will be discussed related to the recent advances in the molecular testing and drug development in the field of leukemia and other myeloid malignancies. Clinical perfusion student earns national award, scholarship
Clinical perfusion student Halle Swann garnered first place for the 2018 Ken Farmer Memorial Scholarship at the Sanibel Symposium for clinical perfusionists in Fort Myers, Fla., April 7. Swann presented a unique case experience from Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha entitled “Dual Arterial Cannulation for Aortic Arch Repair in an Infant- Avoiding Deep Hypothermic Circulatory Arrest.”

Register today for Runway Run 5K
Nebraska Medicine is the presenting sponsor of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce Runway Run on May 12 at the Bellevue Public Schools Lied Activity Center, located at 2600 Arboretum Drive (at the intersection of Fort Crook Road and Highway 370). This event promotes physical activity for the whole family with both a three-mile run and a one-mile walk. Employees of Nebraska Medicine UNMC can sign up to participate by clicking here. In addition to this online sign-up, participants must download and fill out the paper form located on the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce website, accessible from the online registration form. The cost for employees will be $25 per entry. The registration deadline has been extended for Nebraska Medicine and UNMC employees to Friday, April 27. Packet pickup will be May 7 to 11, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, 1102 S. Galvin Rd.

Tickets available for I-80 Speedway National Health Night at the Races
UNMC has 50 free general admission tickets available to National Health Night at the Races for faculty, staff and students, courtesy of I-80 Speedway. The racing begins at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, April 27, and concessions are available. Stop by UNMC Public Relations to pick up free tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. Public Relations is located in the 4230 Building at 4230 Leavenworth St. The building, also known as Annex 10, is where IT and facilities management and planning are located. It is just north and west of Charlie Graham Body & Service.
