On Thursdays, we randomly feature a medical center employee. This week, we learn more about:
Name: Hilary Christo
Hometown: Kearney, Neb.
Number of years at UNMC: UNMC 16, UNK 13
Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
As student services coordinator for the College of Nursing-Kearney Division, I am involved with the nursing students from the time they are just beginning to think of nursing as a career to the day they walk across the stage with their BSN. It all starts with recruitment events, at high schools or colleges,
summer camps, and campus visits. The student services coordinators on all five of the College of Nursing campuses are involved with admissions, plan orientations, advise and counsel students on academic programs and coordinate enrollment and progression through to graduation.
Excellence” is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group at UNMC exhibit excellence.
I have witnessed UNMC’s “excellence” many times over the past years. The clearest example is seeing the changes in a student from being a nervous, shy first-semester nursing student, to seeing them practicing as a competent, caring registered nurse.
