Apply for NU inclusive excellence development grants

Achieving inclusive excellence requires a campus environment that includes a multiplicity of backgrounds, one that can help recruit and retain the talent needed to advance the University of Nebraska’s ability to transform lives through research and innovation.

As the state’s only public university, the institution best fulfills its mission by supporting the creation of a diverse, accessible and inclusive campus environment. In support of the Inclusive Excellence Development Series, Inclusive Excellence Development Grants will provide system-level support for implementing or strengthening sustainable initiatives that advance diversity, access and inclusion, and lead to equitable outcomes in one or more identified priority areas:

  • Campus climate;
  • Student recruitment and retention; and
  • Faculty and staff recruitment and retention.

A total of eight grants up to $3,000 each will be offered per calendar year in two funding cycles (fall and spring — four grants in each cycle) through the Office of Diversity, Access and Inclusion. Annual funds are available in the amount of $24,000.

Spring proposals are due by 5 p.m. on April 13. Grant awards will be announced April 30.

Projects and initiatives must include collaboration across groups, offices, departments or divisions and may include external university partners. Only activities that are free and open to the university community will be funded. Funding cannot be utilized for off-campus travel or to support salaries.

To request an application and additional criteria information, contact Stancia Jenkins, associate to the president/assistant vice president for diversity, access and inclusion, via email.

Applicants must submit an electronic copy of the completed proposal (in PDF or Word format) to the Office of Diversity, Access, and Inclusion via email by 5 p.m. on April 13. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
