Hockey event to raise cancer awareness, funds for research
Husker Hockey, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln men’s hockey club, will host a cancer awareness night and jersey auction on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 4:30 p.m. when they host the Creighton University Bluejays. The game will be at the John Breslow Ice Hockey Center at 433 V St. in Lincoln. Tickets are $5 for adults and can be purchased at the door. Kids ages 12 and under will be admitted for free. A representative from the Fred & Pamela Buffet Cancer Center will be in attendance to address the crowd between periods about the importance of cancer research. With many of the Husker Hockey players having been personally touched by cancer, the game is a chance to honor cancer patients and survivors. A former teammate, Zach Miller, died of leukemia in 2015.
