Lied Transplant Center to be renamed

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents on Tuesday approved changing the name of the Lied Transplant Center to the Hixson-Lied Tower.

It will take some time to update building signage, interior wayfinding, and online directories, so the campus community and visitors will continue to see the Lied Transplant Center name for several more months.

The new name reflects the generosity of the Lied Foundation Trust and the changes that have happened within the building in recent years.

The cancer treatment center has moved to the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, and the hotel rooms that once occupied floors 4-7 have all been converted into inpatient hospital rooms. The Multi-Organ Transplant Clinic remains in the building.

UNMC research labs continue to occupy upper floors.

How do you plan to differentiate that from the building that holds the Emergency Department which is also commonly referred to as Hixon-Lied? Just wondering.
