If she had to sum up her visit to UNMC on Nov. 2, Neb. State Sen. Suzanne Geist would tell others, “The education and innovation taking place at UNMC is a driving force in our state for good paying jobs.
“I would definitely encourage more people to come and take tours,” Sen. Geist said.
Accompanied by UNMC Chancellor Jeffery P. Gold, M.D., and Bob Bartee, vice chancellor for external relations, the state senator toured the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center with a highlighted tour of the Chihuly Sanctuary, as well as the iEXCEL visualization hub.
While the Chihuly Sanctuary was among her favorite stops, Sen. Geist was particularly impressed with the cancer research that is taking place at UNMC.
“The Buffett Cancer Center is on the cutting edge of both education and innovation. It is an institution that makes all of Nebraska proud and offers hope for the future,” Sen. Geist said.
Sen. Geist, of District 25, serves on the legislative performance audit, the LR127 Nebraska justice system special oversight committee, the natural resources committee and the transportation and telecommunications committee in the unicameral.
