The 3-D image of the human body appeared seemingly out of nowhere the minute Janet Anderson, a legislative aide to Neb. State Sen. Roy Baker, put the HoloLens headset on.
“That’s amazing!” Anderson said.
Anderson was among a group of 20 Nebraska legislative staffers who visited UNMC Nov. 1 as part of an Omaha visit that also featured a stop at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
UNMC leaders, including Vice Chancellor for External Relations Bob Bartee, helped showcase UNMC to the visitors.
Barb Lococo, a legislative aide to Neb. State Sen. John Stinner, also left the visit inspired by what she saw and learned.
“The innovations, the technology, the global partnerships is all amazing,” Lococo said, adding, “I never knew we could have this kind of futuristic medicine that’s being developed right here in Nebraska at UNMC.”
The legislative staffers spent the morning touring UNMC’s state-of the-art facilities, including the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and the Munroe-Meyer Institute, and were given presentations on the Global Center for Health Security and SHARING Clinics.
Staffers also visited the iEXCEL Visualization Hub, where they toured the Sim Lab, and took part in demonstrations of the iWall, Hololens and CAD Wall before departing for the University of Nebraska at Omaha campus.
