“An Afternoon of Song” will be held from noon-12:45 p.m. in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center lobby.
The event features performers from the Opera Omaha Holland Community Opera Fellowship:
- Jessica Johnson Brock, mezzo-soprano, Holland Community Opera fellow;
- Chabrelle Williams, soprano, Holland Community Opera Fellow; and
- Sean Kelly, pianist, head of music at Opera Omaha.
The free performance is open to patients, families, staff, students and the general public.
The goal of the Healing Arts Program is to promote healing and enhance the lives of patients, families, visitors and staff.
“The Healing Arts Program is not just about visual arts,” said Colleen Heavican, curator of the program. “It will integrate many forms of art, including literary, performing arts and music.”
Heavican hopes to institute monthly Healing Arts events, such as performances, speakers and workshops focused on various art forms.
“This event represents the kick-off event for our community partnership with Opera Omaha,” she said. “Opera Omaha’s Holland Community Opera Fellowship offers the opportunity to bring opera into new environments to promote the value of the arts and provide cultural enrichment.”
This unfortunately overlays the Joslyn speaker on their current exhibit at the same time. Since both draw from similar audiences, most likely, it's too bad. I would like to attend both.
