Name: Giovanni Jones
Title: Interprofessional education and postdoctoral education coordinator
Hometown: Omaha
Talk about your job and what you like best about it:
I coordinate the Interprofessional Education Program (IPE) – primarily the IPE days on the Omaha campus while coordinating with Kearney and Scottsbluff. I enjoy meeting all the incoming students from the various programs, recruiting volunteer facilitators and securing space and supplies. Each IPE experience (three per year, two for first-year students and one for second-year students) is well supported by UNMC and that makes a huge difference.
I also have the auspicious opportunity to meet and work with postdocs on campus. The research they provide is not only vital to Nebraska and the United States, but the entire world. I am blessed to be in a position to offer help and connect postdocs to resources for them and their families if needed. This is done through programming, awards, and collaborating to create opportunities.
List three things people may not know about you:
1. I have three nephews and two nieces, and I love traveling to see them.
2. I love participating in MIXXEDFIT and attend classes at least three times a week or more.
3. I serve as the secretary for the TeamMates board, Omaha Public Schools Chapter. If you would like to learn more about mentoring, contact me!
