The Healing Arts Program will host an artist talk and gallery reception with watercolorist Mary Whyte, whose work is featured in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, on Sept. 29.
The artist talk will be held from 4-5 p.m. in the Gail and Mike Yanney Conference Center on the ground floor of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. The gallery viewing and a reception will follow.
During her visit to UNMC, Whyte also will hold drawing classes for patients and staff at the cancer center.
On her website, Whyte notes that she is the 2016 recipient of the Portrait Society of America’s Gold Medal, the highest honor awarded by the society.
She is the author of five nonfiction books and the subject of a biography, “More Than a Likeness: The Enduring Art of Mary Whyte,” written by art curator and historian Martha Severens.
