The UNMC College of Nursing will host its fifth annual Anna Marie Jensen Cramer Memorial Lectureship in Women’s & Children’s Health & Family Nursing on Sept. 20.
Lauri Linder, Ph.D., associate professor at the University of Utah College of Nursing, will present “Children Should be Seen and Heard: Children’s Perspectives of Their Illness-related Experiences.” She also is a pediatric oncologist clinical nurse specialist at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
During her presentation, she will discuss the importance of obtaining a child-centric perspective in the health care setting, appraise strategies for obtaining a child-centric perspective and propose child-centric interventions to address childrens’ self-reported symptoms and concerns.
The event will kick off with a reception at 5:30 p.m. in the atrium of the UNMC College of Nursing Center for Nursing Science, with the talk starting at 6:30 p.m. in Room 3030 in the center.
The lecture also will be broadcast live to the four other nursing divisions via IP Video/Vidyo. The locations are: Kearney, Health Science Education Complex, Room 106; Lincoln, Room 305; Scottsbluff, Room B132; and in Norfolk Room 156.
The target audience is advanced practice nurses, nurses and other health professionals interested in pediatric cancer.
Continuing nursing education credit is available for 1.0 contact hour.
