The Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) announced at its Hospital Medicine 2017 meeting in Las Vegas that Rachel Thompson, MD, MPH, will serve on its Board of Directors. Dr. Thompson, associate professor, Division of General Internal Medicine and medical director for clinical care transitions, will serve on the Board for a three-year term with an option to run for a second term.
According to the Society, it represents the fastest growing specialty in modern healthcare, representing more than 15,000 hospitalists. The SHM’s mission is to promote exceptional care of hospitalized patients.
Dr. Thompson said, “It is a true honor to be one of twelve board members engaged in and shaping Hospital Medicine in the United States and beyond through SHM’s partnerships abroad.”
