An update to the UNMC mobile app is now available in the Android app store. The app was completely rewritten from the ground up with speed and consistency in mind. This offers a more stable experience for users and allows for greater expansion of the app in the future.
You will no longer be able to use the old Android app. A new Android app must be downloaded from the Android app store in order for it to continue functioning correctly. Soon the old Android app will be changed so it can only make emergency calls. Please download the new Android app here.
“It was really important for us to create something that was built for speed and allows for future expansion,” said UNMC Senior Mobile App/Web Developer Todd Ashmore.
The app’s directory was overhauled too, making it easier to find the contact you’re looking for. You can now search by first name, last name, email address, department and title. You also can email, call, share or save a contact.
The latest update includes redesigned main screen icons and modules to give the application a more consistent look and feel throughout. The back-end server that drives the mobile app was recreated as well. This allows changes to the app content to be made quickly, and gives app users a much faster experience.
“Our team is really excited that the university is interested in staying current on technology. This has been a very rewarding project and we really hope that the community can benefit from it for years to come,” Ashmore said.
UNMC’s recently developed mobile app team within the Information Technology Services Department is available for consulting purposes on future mobile app projects at UNMC.
