On World Breastfeeding Week, July 31-Aug. 4, a health fair and a lunch-and-learn event for health care providers will mark the week at UNMC/Nebraska Medicine.
The Olson Center for Women’s Health’s Breastfeeding Health Fair & Baby Shower will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 31 at the Durham Outpatient Center West Atrium.
Exhibitors will offer information on breast pumps, bras, support groups, accessories and lactation support, while the WellCare Baby Shower will feature health education, games and prizes, gift bags, food and more.
The lunch-and-learn, sponsored by Nebraska Medicine Women & Infant Services, will discuss “Breastfeeding and Ankyloglossia.” Ankyloglossia is a condition at birth that restricts the tongue’s range of motion. Laura Wilwerding, M.D., of the Naturally Healthy Kids Pediatric Clinic, will present. It will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Aug. 2 at University Tower’s Grissom Conference Room (UH5412).
