Talk about your job and what you like best about it:
I work with Dr. Abbey Fingeret as a new patient coordinator. In addition to Dr. Fingeret, I also work with the multidisciplinary thyroid clinic that includes endocrinology and thyroid surgeons and the head and neck surgery department. I am responsible for scheduling all new patients for the thyroid program.
My responsibility starts at the initial point of contact when a new patient enters the oncology service line. Once a referral is placed into the system, I call all new patients for an initial intake interview. I gather all pertinent medical information specific to their reason for the visit. After the patient interview, I work on gathering records, pathology, and radiology for a successful first visit. Gathering all pertinent patient information ensures the patient will have a very thorough and complete visit and have all options available to them at that time.
My goal is to work closely with my physicians and nurses to collaborate and provide the best patient care possible. The best thing about my job is being able to be a first contact for a patient who is seeking care at Nebraska Medicine. Knowing that I am the first point of contact to participate in this journey and helping patients get started with what can be very difficult and life-changing experience is what I love about my job.
List three things people may not know about you:
1. I’m going to school for business management.
2. I like to hike in the mountains.
3. I’ve worked in the medical field since the age of 17.
Jodi is super sharp at her job & is a great resource to all of the co-workers and others in the service line as well! She is a great person & also a fun fact – she sends care packages to service men during the holidays to remind them of home. 🙂
