UNMC and the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will host the 12th annual International Student Research Forum (ISRF) from June 4-8, with presentations at Mammel Hall on UNO’s Scott Campus on June 5, 6, and 7.

“The mission of the ISRF is to provide an international stage for graduate research students to collaborate beyond the boundaries of disciplines and nationalities,” said Keith Swarts, interim director of UNMC’s Asia Pacific Rim Development Program. Swarts has served as coordinator for the UNMC ISRF program since 2008, as well as serving as the acting director for the governing charter group of the ISRF for the past four years.
“The forum aims to attract the world’s brightest, upcoming scientists and provides an opportunity to showcase world-class education and research,” Swarts said.
“By building relationships with international colleagues at forums such as this, students are forging relationships that can yield scientific advances, which could affect countless people around the world.”
There will be 58 students and 16 faculty/staff coming from six universities. Forty-nine participants (42 students) are from international universities. Participants come from UNMC, UNO, Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia, The University of Southern Denmark in Odense, Denmark, the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, China, and Tongji University in Shanghai, China.
They come from all around the world — students are from the U.S., China, Denmark, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.
In addition to presenting and discussing scientific research, students will have numerous opportunities to make connections during social events such as a Storm Chasers game, line dancing lessons and other activities.
