Dr. Cannella, associate professor, Division of Rheumatology and Immunology, was selected to receive the Excellence in Teaching Award Honoring the Pioneering Women in Medicine. The award was created in 2012 by Carol Swarts, MD, College of Medicine, to recognize the importance of dedicated teaching faculty who enrich the lives of students and shape outstanding health care providers. The award was presented to Dr. Cannella by Dr. Swarts on May 15. Dr. Cannella plans to use the $20,000 award she received toward continued innovations in education.
