Retirement event for Dickmeyer, Faber

The UNMC community is invited to a retirement celebration for Don Dickmeyer and Mike Faber, which will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Facilities Management and Planning office in the 4230 Building, Conference Room 2007.

Dickmeyer is retiring after 44 years at UNMC. He started as a design drafter, served as a project coordinator and is currently a project manager.

In addition to countless design drafting projects, Dickmeyer’s UNMC projects included:

  • The UNMC Ice Rink;
  • campuswide blue lights;
  • Parking Lot 50;
  • numerous campus sidewalk and street repair/construction projects; and
  • traffic speed tables.

Faber is retiring after 16 years at UNMC. After service in the U.S. Army, he was an independent contractor in Des Moines and for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and was project manager for building design and construction for many projects across the state of Iowa.

In Omaha, he performed a major project-management role in the construction of the 500,000-square-foot Landmark Center and held positions at Creighton University and Immanuel communities.

At UNMC, he was project manager for more than 1,000,000-square-feet of new buildings, including the Durham Research Center I and II, Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education, Center for Nursing Science, Maurer Center for Public Health, Scott Cancer Research Tower and many other projects.
