“Health care is local. Health care is one patient, one physician, one visit at a time,” UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., told a group of 25 south Omaha community leaders gathered for a noon luncheon on March 27 at the South Omaha Library.

Joining Dr. Gold were Ali S. Khan, M.D., M.P.H., dean of the UNMC College of Public Health; Janet Guthmiller, D.D.S., Ph.D., dean of the UNMC College of Dentistry; Jill Wallen, B.D.S., chair of the department of growth and development at the UNMC College of Dentistry; and Bob Bartee, vice chancellor of external affairs at UNMC.

After the luncheon, the group went to OneWorld Community Health Center for a tour of the facility and ended the day meeting with leadership at Justice for Our Neighbors.

The purpose of the visit was to hear from community leaders what the greatest needs are and if there are potential partnership opportunities.
