Modern neuroimaging tools allow clinicians and researchers to measure the brain’s structure and function noninvasively. These measurements can inform our understanding of healthy brain function and may allow us to identify how diseases detrimentally change the brain. The goal of the symposium, officials said, is to enhance human neuroimaging resources at UNMC and put the medical center at the forefront of the next frontier in translational neuroscience.
The symposium will begin at 8 a.m. with remarks from UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D. Presentations from nationally-recognized researchers who use neuroimaging to answer key questions about brain organization and cognitive function will follow.
After the presentations, a 30-minute panel discussion will allow the audience to interact with the invited speakers.
Invited speakers for the symposium include:
- Mark D’Esposito, M.D., University of California Berkeley
- Steven Petersen, Ph.D., Washington University in St. Louis
- Vincent Magnotta, Ph.D., University of Iowa
