State Sen. Justin Wayne, who represents Legislative District 13, which covers the northeast portion of Douglas County, recently toured UNMC as senator-elect.
Sen. Wayne’s visit included a lunch with UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., and vice chancellor for external affairs Bob Bartee. He later took part in an overview of UNMC’s priorities and outstanding programs, and toured the med center’s iEXCEL℠ and simulation lab facilities.
Wayne said he was impressed with UNMC’s new approach to education, especially the innovative use of technology to facilitate active learning.
“This is going to fundamentally change the way teaching is done,” he said. “I’m just imagining what we can do in our state’s classrooms.”
Wayne is among a class of 17 new lawmakers who took office in the Unicameral this month.
