If you’ve ever wished that you could run a search of just part of unmc.edu, rather than all 15,000 pages, here’s some good news.
You can.
Search capability has been enhanced with site-specific search. This means that a user can narrow a search from all of unmc.edu to a specific subsite, such as the College of Dentistry.
“The web teams of PR and ITS worked on this project because we heard from users that it would be a useful feature,” said Stacie Hamel, senior associate director of Web & Interactive Media.
To run a search, navigate to the subsite you want to search. Enter a search term in the search box in the upper right-hand corner of any page. On the results page, you then will be given the option of searching only within the subsite.
If you find that the search was too narrow, you can select to return to searching all of unmc.edu.
Greg Simon, web systems administrator, said site-specific search has been added to all subsites throughout unmc.edu.
“The UNMC website has a vast amount of information available. That much information can make it hard to navigate and filter search results. Site-specific search will help users narrow search results to a manageable number.”
Suggestions regarding unmc.edu can be submitted through the Ideas module of the UNMC mobile app.
