Registration open for Feb. 28 well-being event

Faculty, staff and students are urged to register online for UNMC’s second annual “Elevating the Conversation: Rekindling Your Spark” colloquium.

The Feb. 28 event will help attendees strengthen their own resilience and well-being in the face of a complex and challenging health care environment.

Keynote speaker Carol Bernstein, M.D., associate professor of psychiatry, vice chair for education in psychiatry and director of residency training in psychiatry at the New York University School of Medicine, also will reveal how shifting our view of mental health and overall well-being can positively impact our patients, colleagues and organization.

“Studies show an alarming number of health care professionals struggle with stress, burnout and depression, which is why we urge everyone to join us Feb. 28 as we work to strengthen our own well-being and that of our colleagues,” said Juliann Sebastian, Ph.D., dean of the College of Nursing, who is spearheading the symposium along with UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D.

Continuing education credit will be available for the event, which runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m. (CST) in the Sorrell Center’s Truhlsen Events Center on the Omaha campus.

The event will be live-streamed to the following sites:

  • CON Scottsbluff, Room B132
  • CON Kearney, HSEC, Room 100
  • CON Norfolk, Room 156
  • CON Lincoln, Room 307
  • COD Lincoln, Room 1201

For those unable to attend, the event will be recorded and archived at a later date.
