Lynn Johnson, Ph.D., of the University of Michigan, will speak on “Health Records in the Cloud: From Vision to Reality” at a lecture from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Sorrell Center, Room 2018.
In the presentation, Dr. Johnson will discuss:
- her vision of the Learning Health System to improve health;
- five technology pillars of the Learning Health System: cloud, mobile, big data, sensors and social media; and
- her contributions to realizing the Learning Health System: The Collaboration for Health IT.
Dr. Johnson is a professor of dentistry, the associate dean for faculty affairs & institutional effectiveness and a clinical professor in the School of Information at Michigan. She is an informatics specialist with extensive experience in developing and evaluating innovative technologies that support dental education and patient care.
Dr. Johnson has focused her recent work in four areas:
- creation and evaluation of secure cloud-based electronic health systems;
- the assessment of clinical problem-solving skills;
- innovative uses of technology for the instruction and evaluation of oral health care providers; and
- the evaluation of the merit and worth of instructional products and methodologies.
Her research in learning technologies has received continuous support from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Federation grants for more than 15 years, including being the principal investigator on two NIH grants. Dr. Johnson has more than 60 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Johnson has completed multiple leadership programs.
