Kearney, Lincoln nursing students aid in YouRhealth community health fair
Ten nursing students from the Kearney and Lincoln Divisions recently participated in Lexington High School’s first YouRhealth community health fair, a pilot project to develop new health curriculum courses in Lexington, Neb. UNMC students helped the high school students with planning, surveyed students about their health knowledge, made presentations and did blood pressure and blood glucose screenings. YouRhealth is part of the UNL Minority Health Disparities Initiative, which builds long-term relationships to develop a health course curriculum that equips students to be viable public health educators. The YouRhealth students learn the skills necessary to create research-based public health campaigns.
