Dr. Prentice elected to national research board

Ernest Prentice, Ph.D., associate vice chancellor of academic affairs, has recently been elected to the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) Board of Trustees.

The mission of ACRP is to promote excellence in clinical research. With more than 13,000 members in over 70 countries globally, ACRP supports professionals and organizations across the clinical research enterprise with the membership, training and certification programs necessary for clinical trial quality and efficiency improvements.

Dr. Prentice, a 1976 UNMC graduate, has extensive experience and tenure in the ethics and regulation of human research. He is the institutional official for both the UNMC Human Research Protection Program and the UNMC Animal Care and Use Program. Previously he served as the executive chair of the UNMC Institutional Review Board and served as the co-chair of the IRB for more than 26 years. From 2003-2007, he served as the chair of the Advisory Committee on Human Research Protection through the secretary’s office of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Ernie’s contributions, and those of the Human Research Protection Program he leads at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine, are yet another way our academic health center leads the world.”
