Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I support my department, Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, with various tasks such as coordinating schedules and activities for our chairman, Dwight Jones, M.D., and our administrator, Julie Zetterman. I assist with tracking progress and results, work with internal and external parties to initiate and run projects, and a big focus right now on recruitment.
Courage is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group demonstrating courage at UNMC.
I believe courage is a very important value to UNMC and especially to our leadership. An example that I have seen in my short time here is from my department leader, Dr. Jones, and administrator, Julie Zetterman.
These two individuals work together to make our department who we are and expect us to strive for excellence. They encourage us to work with less fear and more courage by taking on projects with tight deadlines, to see the positive side of change, and to speak up about ideas or changes that you feel should be made and why.
Great leadership takes courage and innovation that involves creating groundbreaking ideas to make UNMC be the best we can be.
