Twenty-nine UNMC students, proposing nine separate projects, received E-Learning Awards on Nov. 9 as part of UNMC’s E-learning initiative.
The students will now plan and create the e-learning module, with help from their faculty advisers and the E-Learning Lab. The modules will be unveiled at a special ceremony on April 13, featuring demonstrations by both faculty and student e-learning award winners and a recognition ceremony.
There are new components to this year’s program. Content areas and faculty advisers have been pre-identified with the goal of creating content that more strategically supports curriculum.
“This call for proposals focused specifically on students creating interdisciplinary content for use in courses that have students from multiple colleges and across curricular programs,” said Peggy Moore, director of E-Learning Instructional Design.
Course areas are: biology of disease, pharmacology, and pathophysiology. Some of the modules will focus on foundational material, some will focus content that has been determined to be challenging for students.
New this year is the addition of student consultants. Previous e-learning developers will serve as consultants. The consultants will be available to provide a variety of support: software support, peer review, recommendations, assistance with progress reports. The consultants will also receive a stipend.
