- Neurorehabilitation
- Amputee rehabilitation
How I fell in love with physical medicine and rehabilitation:
I grew up in an Air Force family in India. While in medical school, I visited a veterans center which cared for patients with traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries, and for amputees. As I watched their transition from being “airborne to chairborne,” I knew I had found my calling. Since physical medicine and rehabilitation was not a well established field in India, I could not think of any better place than the United States for my training.
Degrees:
- M.D., Government Medical College, Miraj, Maharashtra, India
Memberships:
- American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
- American Academy of Neurorehabilitation
- American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists
Three things people may not know about me:
- I started taking piano lessons in the hope to better understand the role of music in neurorehabilitation.
- I visit at least one national park in the U.S. every year.
- I dream of running a marathon someday.
