On Monday, Nov. 7, local members of the Sidewalk Astronomers, with the support of the Omaha Astronomical Society, invite the UNMC and Nebraska Medicine community to join them for public observations of the first-quarter moon, along with Venus and Mars.
The Sidewalk Astronomers is a worldwide organization of amateur astronomers committed to bringing the wonders of the sky into people’s everyday life. On a clear night, they set up their telescopes in public places and offer people the opportunity to look through their “eyes to the sky.”
For this viewing, the telescopes will be set up on the green space near the ice rink in the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza from 5 to 7 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Parking is available in Lot 13 on 41st and Dewey streets.
If the weather is unfavorable, the event will be canceled.
