Linda Fell |
An early leader in distance education, Fell was instrumental in developing an educational network to serve outstate Nebraska and the surrounding region. She retired in 2013 after more than 20 years in UNMC’s CLS program.
When Fell started at UNMC, Omaha had the only CLS program in the state. A grant allowed Fell to develop a distance learning program that enabled the program to expand to communities in Wyoming and South Dakota. In addition, UNMC was able to offer the CLS program through a partnership with five universities – University of Missouri, University of Iowa, University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, Washburn University and Missouri Western State University.
Fell was active with ASCP throughout her career. She sat on the ASCP board of directors for two years during her tenure as chair and chair-elect of the then Associate Member Section. She credits Phyllis Muellenberg as her mentor. Muellenberg retired at the end of 2005 after 22 years as director of the CLS program at UNMC.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to laboratory professional members who have demonstrated a commitment to the profession through work, attitude and ASCP activities over their careers.
Founded in 1922 in Chicago, ASCP is a medical professional society with more than 100,000 members, who include board-certified anatomic and clinical pathologists, pathology residents and fellows, laboratory professionals, and students.
Congratulations!! You are still making an impact even when retired!!
