Research/Professional interests:
Dr. Morgan specializes in the complete care of the upper extremity, from elbow to fingertips. His clinical interests include treatment of nerve injuries and compressive neuropathies, microvascular surgery, degenerative conditions and traumatic injuries to the hand and wrist, and the treatment of musicians’ hands. Dr. Morgan’s many research interests include outcomes of nerve repair techniques, methods to improve patient and physician education, and upper extremity conditions in musicians.
How I fell in love with orthopaedic surgery:
I decided to become an orthopaedic surgeon at the age of 6, having witnessed some other children at that time with musculoskeletal conditions and wanting to help them. As my education continued, my passion for orthopaedics only grew. I became fascinated with the delicate intricacies of the hand and the subtle features of its anatomy, as well as the significant impact on daily life that conditions and injuries of the hand can carry. From tasks as simple as eating and grooming to those as complex as sculpting or performing a piano concerto, the hand serves as the intermediary between our minds and the world we live in. All that humanity has dreamed to accomplish — from the wheel to space flight and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony — it has used our hands to achieve it. Today, it is my pleasure to continue to devote my professional life to the care of the masterpiece that is the hand, seeking to afford for my patients the opportunities to use their hands for all the occupations and interests that they enjoy.

Three things people may not know about me:
- I have moved around a bit through my life, and Nebraska is now my eighth state! I’ve previously lived in West Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri and Illinois.
- I liked my last car so much that when it came time to replace it, I bought an identical one from a newer year, all the way down to the color and trim.
- I collect presidential biographies and am up to 37 so far.
