Anna Wishart, a legislative candidate in District 27, toured UNMC this month.
Wishart met with campus leaders, including Vice Chancellor for Research Jennifer Larsen, M.D., Ali S. Khan, M.D., M.P.H., dean of the College of Public Health, and Dan DeBehnke, CEO of Nebraska Medicine.
Her tour also included stops at the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit and the iEXCELâ„ Visualization Room.
“Public health and health care are the most important issues I hear about in the district,” she said. “I’m hoping to serve on the Health and Human Services Committee when elected. This is one of the shining institutions in our state.”
Wishart said she would be excited to work as a state senator with experts in the field to innovate and improve the quality of life for Nebraskans.
“What jumps out at me more than anything is the level of innovation that is happening at this campus,” she said. “I’m excited about the future of health care, and I think a lot of the direction we’re going to be taking is coming from the innovations happening here.”
