A new Health Disparities Pilot Grant has been launched to support the Healthy People 2020 Initiative and the shared mission of UNMC and Nebraska Medicine to transform lives to create a healthy future for all.
Any health disparity addressed by Healthy People 2020 is eligible: “those that have systematically experienced greater obstacles to health based on their racial or ethnic group; religion; socioeconomic status; gender; age; mental health; cognitive, sensory, or physical disability; sexual orientation or gender identity; geographic location; or other characteristics historically linked to discrimination or exclusion.”
All UNMC faculty are eligible to apply for this new pilot grant program. Priority will be given to new or expanded teams focused on innovative strategies for reducing health disparities, particularly those identified within our Midwest region.
Applications are due to Debbie Hawkins in the Vice Chancellor for Research Office by 5 p.m. Sept. 15. Details regarding the program, including the complete RFA, application and budget sheets may be found on the Vice Chancellor’s Research Resources website. Questions may be addressed to Paula Turpen, Ph.D., director of research resources, by email or by calling 402-559-6162.
