Together as One: UNMC employees give $1.4 million

The University of Nebraska Foundation has announced the philanthropic support provided by UNMC faculty members and staff during the foundation's fiscal year ending June 30, 2016. UNMC faculty members and staff gave $1.37 million in support of all areas of campus. This included one-time donations, recurring donations and planned gifts. This support includes $13,321 given by UNMC employees during the first-ever Together as One campaign. The campaign ran from March 28 to April 8 and represented the first system-wide effort of its kind to invite all university faculty members and staff to contribute to an area of the university that's most meaningful to them. Employees were contacted by email and campus mail. At UNMC, the Together as One campaign was co-chaired by Christopher Kratochvil, M.D., professor and associate vice chancellor for clinical research, and Aileen Warren, assistant vice chancellor for human resources. "It was an honor for us to serve as co-chairs of the UNMC Together as One campaign, and we would like to personally thank everyone who participated," Warren said. "Given this was the first-ever, systemwide staff and faculty giving campaign, I was not sure what the participation level would be but was extremely pleased with the amount given. The generosity of UNMC employees is greatly appreciated! I'm looking forward to next year's campaign and am hopeful UNMC will meet or even exceed this year's level of giving." Across the university's statewide system, faculty members and staff gave a total of $2.87 million during the 2016 fiscal year for support of a wide range of programs, research, scholarships, academic activities and more. Gifts of $75,242 were received during the Together as One campaign.
