As part of UNMC’s commitment to providing and enhancing programs and services that have a positive impact on our employee’s overall health and well-being, UNMC’s Faculty Employee Assistance Program (FEAP) now will be administered by Arbor Family Counseling, an Omaha-based counseling services provider.
“This collaboration with Arbor, which begins Sept. 1, will allow us to provide an array of added services for our employees, including more counselors, on-site and off-site locations, a secure web presence, multilingual interpreter services, monthly e-flyers and an e-newsletter addressing topics related to the workplace and employee well-being,” said Aileen Warren, associate vice chancellor for human resources.
FEAP counselor Susan Smith will continue to see currently scheduled appointments through Aug. 31. In September, she will transition into a new campus role that focuses on house officer wellness.
In the meantime, any employees who are seeking to schedule an appointment for a new or developing issue should contact Arbor Family Counseling. Arbor is available to begin scheduling appointments immediately. To make an appointment with Arbor, call or log onto their website and identify yourself as a UNMC employee.
Arbor has served Omaha families since 1993 and is also the EAP provider for Nebraska Medicine.
In the coming weeks, more detailed information about Arbor Family Counseling will be provided in manager and employee overview sessions, new employee orientations as well as future additions of UNMC Today. To see the new employee assistance brochure, click here.
Good luck to Sue! There has always been great comfort and utility in having FEAP counselors in house 'walking the walk' with us and 'on call' if needed. I hope this transition serves the campus well.
Susan – you have been an tremendous help to me as I wandered through my 31 years here. Blessings and much much hugs
Susan and Marlene have been a very valuable asset to the campus. It has been a valuable benefit to have on-site access to FEAP. Best of luck to Sue in her new position!
Having this resource is paramount to maintaining a healthy productive work environment.
With Susan's experiences as a fellow employee she has insight into the culture of this campus. If it were not for this, I don't believe she could have given me the tools I needed to deal with a problem on campus. That is just one of many reasons Susan will be a valuable resource to house officer wellness. Best wishes in this new chapter, Susan!
