Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee. This week, we learn more about:
- Name: Christina Jackson, Ed.D.
- Hometown: Kearney, Neb. I grew up near Sioux Falls, S.D.
- No. of years at UNMC: Nine months
Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I’m the simulation and clinical skills specialist for the new Health Science and Education Complex (HSEC) building in Kearney. Our simulation lab includes a three-bed hospital suite, four patient exam rooms and a debriefing room. We have seven human patient simulators (mannequins). I enjoy bringing the mannequins “to life” through technology and storytelling. I also oversee Kearney’s Standardized Patient (SP) Program.
The best part of my job is working with the students. I help faculty and staff create a fun, safe environment in which our students learn.
Excellence is one of UNMC’s core values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group demonstrate commitment to excellence at UNMC.
The HSEC demonstrates a commitment to excellence at UNMC. It’s the joining of two university campuses — UNMC and the University of Nebraska at Kearney — at one location. Our College of Nursing Kearney Division has been joined by the College of Allied Health Professions creating an environment rich with interprofessional opportunities. We’re expanding our ability to care for our rural Nebraskans. I’m proud to be part of such a great opportunity.
What is your favorite summer activity?
