There will be a farewell tea for Fred Salzinger, assistant vice chancellor for business and finance, on Tuesday, July 12, from 2-3:30 p.m. in Private Dining Room A.
Salzinger has been with UNMC for five years, joining in 2011 as director of health planning, policy and finance. He became assistant vice chancellor for budget & planning in 2014; in the past year, he’s also served as associate dean for financial affairs for the College of Dentistry.
“Fred has been a great asset to UNMC throughout his career,” said Deb Thomas, vice chancellor of business and finance. “He has played as utility infielder for the last five years, filling in wherever he was needed and bringing professionalism and business acumen to every role. We will miss him, and we wish him the best in retirement.”
Salzinger said he “had a fantastic experience at UNMC.
“I can’t think of a better way to end my career in academic medicine than the last five years I spent here,” he said. “This is a great institution with great people doing great things, and it was a pleasure to be a part of it. I’ve worked across the system and helped out wherever I could. It’s been an honor to work here.”
Salzinger said he looks at retirement as a new chapter to his life.
“There’s a lot that’s unknown right now,” he said of his future plans. “But I won’t be sitting at home.”
The campus is invited to the event.
