UNMC and its new UNMC Center for Drug Discovery and Lozier Center for Pharmacy Sciences and Education will serve as the host site for the 34th annual national convention of the American Association of Pharmacy Technicians (AAPT) on July 7-8.
The AAPT’s goal at this convention is to unify pharmacy technicians from around the country for education that promotes advancement in individual careers, patient safety and the health care system.
UNMC faculty members are scheduled to present several sessions. Russell Buzalko, Ph.D., assistant professor of emergency medicine and an advanced master trainer for TeamSTEPPSĀ® (Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety), will deliver the convention’s keynote address, on the positive effects of teamwork in a health care environment.
Judy Neville, director of UNMC’s pharmacy technician education program, is the current AAPT president.
Members of the UNMC campus community are encouraged to check out the convention’s exhibitor hall for a chance to win prizes.
