Longtime ITS employees Trant, Kroenke retire in June

Lee Trant and Cheryl Kroenke

Lee Trant and Cheryl Kroenke, longtime ITS employees, have announced their retirement at the end of June.

Trant, associate director of ITS, has been with UNMC since 1985.

“During his 30 years of service, Lee has been responsible for the development of a significant and impressive portfolio of mission critical administrative applications for research, education and business operations,” said Yvette Holly, assistant vice chancellor for ITS. “His extensive knowledge of UNMC’s dynamic application environment will be greatly missed.”

Retirement plans for Trant include maintaining a 100-acre farm with many landscaping and tree removal projects, along with some woodworking and gardening.

Kroenke, data installation coordinator, has been with UNMC since 1979 where she started as a data entry operator with Clarkson Hospital and transitioned to UNMC ITS in 1998.

“Cheryl has been a key player in coordinating thousands of data adds, moves and changes for UNMC’s growing physical campus,” said Linda Johnson, manager of installation services. “Her project management, attention to detail and dedication has ensured customer PCs, printers and other devices were ready to use as they move from one office to another.”

Retirement plans for Kroenke include traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

“While both prefer to go quietly into their retirement without a formal gathering, ITS wants to publicly thank them for their many years of dedicated service to UNMC and congratulate them on their retirement,” said Kim Strohbehn, ITS business operations administrator.

I remember well several meetings and projects working with Lee Trant – a brilliant guy who has really left his mark on our daily lives here at UNMC. He and I started at about the same time, and both of us had to endure the old Admin Building, now rightfully demolished and given over to the cockroaches. He will be missed! Cheryl I didn't really know you as well, but best of luck to both of you in retirement.
