Culture Fest is taking place today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Truhlsen Events Center of the first floor of the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education.
This year’s event will celebrate five of the cultures thriving in Omaha including: Indian, Iranian, Native American, Puerto Rican and South Sudanese.
There will be five themed tables with items on display representing each culture, as well as a Native American craft activity, Henna temporary body art and calligraphy.
Featured performances include:
- 11:30 a.m.: Southern Sudanese Community Association “Dinka Dance”
- 11:55 a.m.: Native American dance
- 12:05 p.m.: Persian dance
- 12:10 p.m.: Panderos en Omaha — Plena music and Puerto Rican dance troupe
The performances will then be repeated as time allows.
