Culture Fest set for Thursday

A calligraphy table will be featured at Culture Fest this year.

The annual UNMC Culture Fest will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Sorrell Center’s Truhlsen Campus Events Center.

All faculty, staff and students are welcome at Culture Fest, which celebrates the culture and diversity on the UNMC campus. The event is filled with live performances, exhibits, samplings of ethnic foods from local restaurants, and activities to enlighten and inform about many of the world’s cultures.

This year’s event will celebrate five of the cultures thriving in Omaha including: Indian, Iranian, Native American, Puerto Rican and South Sudanese.

Featured performances include the Southern Sudanese Community Association, a Puerto Rican music and dance troupe as well as demonstrations of Persian and Indian dancing.

There will be five themed tables with items on display representing each culture, as well as a Native American craft activity, Henna temporary body art and calligraphy.
