UNMC continues its commitment to an intentional and engaged learning environment with the naming of Linda M. Love, Ed.D., as assistant director for faculty development in the Office of Academic Affairs. Dr. Love previously served as coordinator.
Her role was redefined thanks to her outstanding leadership, quality programming, and expertise, as well as her tireless efforts, hours of hard work, and superior guidance skills, said Dele Davies, M.D., vice chancellor for academic affairs, and Howard Liu, M.D., assistant vice chancellor for faculty development, in a letter announcing the move.
Dr. Love is ideally suited to take on a greater role as UNMC continues to emphasize faculty development, Drs. Davies and Liu said.
Dr. Love also will serve as co-chair of the Career Development and Engagement Committee.
Dr. Love said she purposefully pursued her doctorate in education in order to do her part in enriching that arm of UNMC’s mission. She is encouraged by recent data that shows learning environment can influence the behavior of health care providers for decades to come: “This means that the teaching and learning culture at UNMC is highly important for not only our organization, but also for our state and public health.”
She is excited about her new role.
“UNMC is moving,” Dr. Love said. “It is not standing still. We are opening doors to new colleges, new buildings and new curricula. These are big ambitions that require dedicated attention. With all this opportunity, I am excited that the Office of Faculty Development can collaborate, and have a role in helping UNMC prepare for its future.”
